Data protection "an expectation" says officer
The imminent introduction of General Data Protection Regulations isn't about prosecution and penalties, but is a fundamental protection of personal information.
That's the message from the Legal Officer in charge of the government project, designed to bring Manx legislation in line with the EU benchmark standard this month.
Nicola Pitts says the public shouldn't have to worry about how their data is stored.
It's hoped by bringing the Island up to speed with international law, Manx businesses will continue to enjoy success trading internationally.
