Four massive new flue sections are ready to be lifted into place at Peel Power Station as Manx Utilities prepares a dramatic high-level repair of the exhaust stack.
The work follows damage caused by Storm Éowyn last year and is aimed at securing the long-term viability of the Peel site.
Specialist steeplejacks will use a 220-tonne high-reach crane, due on site from Monday 16 February, with installation expected to take up to seven days.
However, the complex lifting operation remains weather dependent, with high winds potentially delaying both the crane’s journey from Douglas and the installation itself.
The crane will travel from Douglas Port to Peel as a large road‑going vehicle.
Manx Utilities says it's working with the crane operator to ensure the move is completed safely and with minimal disruption.
They add any traffic management measures required will be communicated if needed.
