Charity seeks over £8,000 to maintain critical safety equipment
The Great North Air Ambulance Service is appealing for donations to help fund the servicing of 30 helmets used by its doctors, paramedics and pilots.
The helmets, which are legally required, provide vital head protection and allow crews to communicate in flight.
They must be regularly maintained to remain safe and functional, with servicing costs totalling just over £8,000.
The charity says that without servicing, helmets would need to be replaced at a cost of £2,500 each.
