Document wins unanimous support
A new programme for government has been unanimously approved and praised by Tynwald.
A range of measures to encourage economic growth - including reform of the planning system and a new education strategy - were widely commended by both government ministers and back-benchers.
MLC Bill Henderson described it as a 'breath of fresh air', Garff MHK Daphne Caine said was 'an encouraging start', Ramsey member Alex Allinson insisted it was a sign of an 'inclusive government'.
It lists 20 key priorities for the Manx government - along with a series of policy commitments and actions required to achieve them.
The 24-page framework is considered the road map for Chief Minister Howard Quayle's administration over the next five years.
It's a wide-ranging strategy entitled; 'Our Island - A Special Place to Live and Work'.
Howard Quayle has promised a quarterly update on progress - which will be published by the Cabinet Office.
Nineteen members contributed during a two-hour debate.
Mr Quayle also confirmed an e-mail address had been set-up for members of the public to submit their views on the document.
