The chief minister says plans to generate 30 megawatts on Island are taking longer than expected

Government's aim to generate 30 megawatts of renewable energy on Island by the next general election is 'absolutely not going to happen'.

The chief minister admits the target, set out in the Island Plan, will be missed because planning and legal processes are taking longer than anticipated.

It had been hoped a 20 megawatt onshore windfarm and 10 megawatt of solar power would be up and running by 2026.

Alfred Cannan told Manx Radio that even if the projects are given the go-ahead, the logistics are still a challenge:
