Issue 'can't be ignored' in affluent society
The Lieutenant Governor has called on the Manx public not to ignore the problem of homelessness.
Sir Richard Gozney was last year appointed patron of the charity Housing Matters, which seeks to help those struggling with accommodation at all levels.
Around 150 people are thought to have made themselves known to homeless charities in the Island last year.
His Excellency spent a day last week meeting staff, volunteers and service users at Housing Matters' headquarters in Douglas.
He says although the problem is not as visible here as in the UK, it cannot be understated:

Warning over flare disposal after amenity site fire
Suspended sentence for 56-year-old in cannabis supply case
Owner of a block of flats fined for failing to meet fire safety regulations
Review of taxi fares extended to assess impact of Middle East conflict
