Member wants 2035 target, not 2050
The MHK who proposed a 'radical' shortening of government targets to become carbon neutral says Tynwald should, and could, aim higher.
Following Daphne Caine's request for the court to formally acknowledge and act on the climate emergency this week, Lawrie Hooper proposed the target should be 2035, not 2050.
Isle of Man Green Party leader Andrew Newton took to social media to call it "superb rhetoric on the fundamental issue of our lifetime."
Some members, however, argue his aspirations aren't achievable or realistic in the timescales he's suggesting.
Mr Hooper explained his logic:
