Gov't to issue refunds to those quarantined at Comis Hotel during pandemic

Coaches took repatriates from the sea terminal to the Comis Hotel, a move criticised at the time and in the Covid Review - Manx Radio

People were allowed to return to the Island once borders re-opened, but forced to self-isolate

Manx residents who were forced to stay in the Comis Hotel during the Covid-19 pandemic will be refunded for their stay.

Government says those who were quarantined can immediately apply to be reimbursed.

The move follows a recommendation from the independent Covid review, carried out by Kate Brunner KC.

The Isle of Man Government closed its borders as the Island was brought into lockdown as part of efforts to suppress the spread of the virus.

Islanders were allowed to return some time later but only if they quarantined themselves, at their own expense.

Those who travelled to the Isle of Man via ferry on 15, 22 and 29 April, and the 6 May 2020 are eligible for a refund.

Between 15 April and 13 May, the Council of Ministers had activated the Emergency Powers (Potentially Infectious Persons) Regulations 2020 law which required travellers to stay the Comis Hotel.

Applications for a refund can be made by emailing refund.applications@gov.im or calling 686 608.
