Talks continue over future use
Ramsey Courthouse is opening again for the first time under local authority management this morning.
The iconic building was officially taken over by the town's Commissioners on Thursday, following a successful acquisition from the Department of Home Affairs.
Government's open sale of it last year triggered a row with local residents and board members, who were keen to see it retained it as a public asset.
Ultimately, the deal with was agreed for a nominal fee of £80,000 - with the rest of the £475,000 asking price being met through a lease arrangement for the town's police officers in Ramsey Town Hall.
A TT-themed photography exhibition is being run at the Courthouse for the next fortnight, with free admission between 10am and 4pm daily.
Discussions are ongoing as to what the building should be used for thereafter, and a tender process underway to find a new tenant.
