Lots of visitor interest since news
Supporters of the historic Douglas horse trams say news the service is to survive for another year is a shot in the arm for Manx tourism.
The Department of Infrastructure confirmed yesterday it would take over the operation from Douglas council for this summer - using its existing railways' resources and know-how.
There was an outcry in January when the council said it could no longer afford to run the trams - and supporters feared the loss of a unique tradition dating back 140 years.
The Friends of Douglas Bay Horse Tramway say they received a stream of inquiries about the visiting the Island, within hours of posting the news on social media the trams will continue.
