More details have been released about Friday night's blaze at a former guest house in Port Erin.
Around 10.08pm numerous calls were received by the Emergency Services Joint Control Room reporting smoke coming from the derelict property on Bay View Road.
Upon arrival, firefighters forced entry through the front door of the building with some difficulty, due to large items of furniture obstructing the entrance.
Once they got in it became apparent it was a well established fire in the basement, and additional help was needed.
It took over an hour to bring the blaze under control.
Firefighters also faced added dangers, such as holes in the floors.
The report from the fire service says they had to use their experience, expertise and training to prevent the fire from escalating, spreading to adjoining premises and developing into a major incident.
They were on-scene for nearly five hours, dampening down and cutting away burnt material.
