19-year-old broke teenager girl’s nose
A teenager from Douglas has admitted breaking a 15-year-old girl’s nose after persuading her to meet via social media.
Deniz Maria Yenituran, of Malvern Road, contacted the victim using a Snapchat alias on 6 July last year.
Hours later, in the early hours of 7 July, the 19-year-old assaulted her - causing actual bodily harm - on a path near the National Sports Centre in Douglas.
At Douglas Courthouse the court was told the victim went to school with Yenituran's sister – Yenituran admitted punching her twice with a 'clenched fist'.
The victim suffered several injuries including a ‘lip laceration’ and abrasions to her knees and hand with the prosecutor telling the court Yenituran had ‘almost lured her to the spot’.
In her basis of plea Yenituran said she was unaware of the age of the victim and was ‘surprised’ that she had even turned up.
She also claimed she’d become involved in the incident after the victim pulled the hair of her friend who was with her – that individual was not named and was not before the court.
Yenituran will be sentenced on 25 October, after a social enquiry report has been completed, and has been bailed until that date.
