Designed to integrate new players into the sport's culture
Handball Isle of Man is sending a "futures" squad to Germany for a training camp.
Travelling to the city of Ochtrup are young players who are new to the team in the past 18 months and it's hoped the trip will help 'culturally immerse' them into the sport.
The Year 7, 8 and 9 students will be hosted by SC Arminia Ochtrup e.V. Handball.
Handball is the second biggest sport in Germany and has designated facilities.
Chairman Mick Hegarty says the trip will help enhance the players' skills:
They leave today (24 July) and will return to the Island on Monday, 28 July.
The training camp is also an opportunity for the team to select which squad will participate in regional tournaments in England this year.
Following that, a squad will be formed to compete in 'Generation Handball' in Viborg, Denmark in 2026.
