Manx Wildlife Trust offering four live-in placements each year
The chief executive of Manx Wildlife Trust says it's hard to get into conservation without experience, as the organisation launches a new Island-wide internship programme.
It looks to support early-career conservation professionals.
Four interns will receive training and experience across the charity's land, sea and community projects each year.
They'll live at a restored historic property in Peel; it's hoped this will attract potential interns internationally too.
The scheme is expected to include at least one intern from UK Overseas Territories to share conservation skills between island communities.
"We had the marine lab in Port Erin for many years and we still enjoy the benefits of that. We have lost something there and I don't think we're really feeling the effects of that loss yet."
