Driver injured after his vehicles falls foul of a verge on Tosaby Road
The managing director of a local construction company is urging the Department of Infrastructure to carry out an urgent safety review following an accident involving one of his wagons on the Tosaby Road at the Eairy.
The driver sustained injuries when his vehicle overturned in a verge while avoiding an oncoming truck, but he's since been able to return to work.
The narrow route is approved for HGVs coming to and from the Stoney Mountain Quarry.
But Derek Clarkson of CCJ Group says it's been the scene of numerous accidents involving large vehicles, due to the narrowness of the road and the presence of a dangerous verge and ditch:
The Department of Infrastructure has told Manx Radio that as the incident is currently the subject of a police investigation, it's not in a position to comment at this time.
