Need for financial prudence outlined
The woman in charge of the government’s highest spending department has admitted she is ‘frustrated’ at the time it can often take to make key decisions.
Health Minister Kate Beecroft has initiated weekly meetings with senior officers to help address what she calls a ‘lack of speed’, particularly in securing much-needed savings.
An £11.1 million overspend by the department during the last financial year is being investigated by Tynwald's public accounts committee.
Mrs Beecroft says she is doing all she can to stay within budget and there’s a general need to be more ‘financially prudent’.
