Crash scene remains under guard
A 48 year-old pilot has been killed in a helicopter crash this morning (Saturday).
Police have confirmed the man, from Lincolnshire, received fatal injuries when the Bell Jetranger aircraft crashed in the Baldwin Valley, in the vicinity of the 33rd Milestone.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his relatives have been informed.
The scene will remain under guard until inspectors from the UK Air Accidents Investigations Branch arrive later this evening.
The aircraft had earlier flown two passengers to the Creg-ny-Baa.
These three observers were at the Creg and saw the helicopter flying in and struggling to take off moments later.
