Help and expertise forthcoming for Pier work
More than 100 people attended a public meeting last night (Thursday) to discuss ambitious plans to restore the Queen’s Pier in Ramsey.
Harbour chiefs have issued a licence allowing the newly formed Queen’s Pier Restoration Trust to survey the pier.
If the trust completes a risk assessment of its work, it will be given a three-year lease to start work on restoring the first 50 metres of the Victorian landmark, which closed in 1991.
Spokesman Tom Durrant says he was heartened by offers of help and expertise last night for what he hopes will be a community project.
