Sense's impact on overall health to be highlighted
Hidden Hearing is going bananas on Friday, to highlight the importance of the sense to our overall health.
The company is working in association with the global Campaign For Better Hearing throughout March.
On Friday, staff will be out on Strand Street dressed in banana costumes and handing out the potassium-rich fruit.
The campaign comes ahead of World Hearing Day.
Hidden Hearing says the fluid in the inner ear - the part of it which translates noises into electrical impulses which the brain then interprets as sound - is dependent upon a rich supply of potassium.
Eating bananas and other potassium-rich foods helps support the liquid inside the inner ear, keeping it healthy, particularly for older people who naturally have lower levels of the mineral.
It iisn’t just about getting people eating bananas – the charity will be promoting all aspects of hearing health.
Suzanne Tucker from Hidden Hearing says it’s never been as vital to look after your hearing, as you would your blood pressure, cholesterol, and eye sight.
