Deemster issues judgment following calls for new inquest

A bid to overturn the Attorney General's decision not to order a fresh inquest into the deaths of 50 people who died in the Summerland fire has been rejected.

First Deemster Andrew Corlett issued the judgment this morning after campaigners took the matter to the high court.

Last year, Walter Wannenburgh found there was not enough evidence to justify a new inquest.

The inquest ruled those who died in the disaster in 1973 died as a result of misadventure.

The families of those who lost their lives say the fight goes on.

We'll have more on this story throughout the day.
