A Manx architectural historian has raised fears a much-loved landmark at Cregneash is under threat.
The Isle of Man Victorian Society's Peter Kelly says plans to transform the village chapel into an interpretation centre are not appropriate.
Alterations planned by the parish aim to expand options for community use of the chapel, the second most visited building at Cregneash, and ensure its long-term viability.
Plans include removal of the lectern and font, lowering of the altar, carpeting of the wooden floor and installation of audio visual equipment.
Earlier this month another Cregneash landmark, the traditional red telephone box, was spared from removal when Conister Bank offered to fund its preservation.
