Minister Malarkey granted extra funds for budget
Minister Bill Malarkey says his department has no “wriggle room” in its budget, as it asks Tynwald for a sum to cover an overspend last year.
He said 665 people are employed at home affairs, with most on the front line, and 91% of the costs are fixed.
For example 78% is staff expenses.
As was the case with a request for extra funds for the health department, the vote was unanimously in favour: 20-0 in the House of Keys and 9-0 in the Legislative Council.
