Prosecutor describes it as ‘important breach of trust’
A Bury man will be sentenced next month after stealing thousands of pounds from a housebound person he was caring for.
Peter James Heselwood, of Cross Street, took £5,637 from the elderly woman who had instructed his company – Smiley’s People Limited – to provide home care.
The 51-year-old admitted one offence of theft between 23 June and 27 August 2022 – a charge of committing fraud by false representation was withdrawn by the prosecution.
Efforts from Heselwood’s advocate to block the media from reporting his identity were rejected by Magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
A social enquiry report has been requested before he’s sentenced on 27 July; he’s been bailed until that date.
