Conflicting info from Manx Care and DHSC
Manx Care and the Department of Health and Social Care have to get ‘around the table’ to discuss future plans for a replacement for Cummal Mooar.
That’s the view of Minister Lawrie Hooper who has told Manx Radio ‘something has fallen by the wayside’ in terms of how decisions so far have been communicated.
Last week Manx Care claimed the Ramsey facility would be closed within two years and likely before a replacement was constructed.
To the contrary the DHSC said government did intend to keep the home open whilst plans for a new complex were drawn up and implemented:
Residents at Cummal Mooar were contacted by Manx Care on 27 July informing them of the plans and offering them the chance to discuss any concerns almost a month later on 23 August.
They've urged authorities to keep the home open and launched a petition.
Manx Radio has invited Manx Care to put forward a spokesperson for comment - it has declined to do so.
