Pools to remain closed as overseas specialists finish project
There are hopes the National Sports Centre's flume slides and leisure pool will be finished by this year's summer holidays.
The centre will reopen on Monday in line with the lifting of lockdown, however the pool hall will stay closed.
The Department of Education, Sport and Culture says, in line with Public Health guidance, the swimming facilities must remain closed but will reopen as soon as possible.
It's as overseas workers are being brought in to complete the works, having been granted exemption certificates to enter the Island.
A local firm will be preparing the site next week.
DESC Minister Dr Alex Allinson says: ‘I apologise for the temporary closure of the pool hall whilst we work with specialist contractors to complete these essential works.
‘I know many people and children have been looking forward to use the pool at the NSC and I ask for their patience whilst we look to finish this long-delayed project.’
