Sexual Assault Referral Centre due to open in 2025
The Isle of Man Constabulary is seeing a rise in historic reports of sexual offences.
Justice and Home Affairs Minister Jane Poole-Wilson has told Tynwald that this is somewhat encouraging as it suggests more people feel confident enough to come forward.
Data from the Chief Constable's Annual Report, which went to the court at this month's sitting, showed sexual offences not including rape, in the financial year between 2023-2024, were up from 34 percent to 62 percent.
The Sexual Assault Referral Centre is set to open by May next year offering specialist support, medical, and forensic services.
