Plans announced for £1.25 increase to minimum wage from April
The enterprise minister says government is hoping to start closing the gap between the minimum wage and the living wage.
That's as plans have been announced today to increase the minimum wage from £9.50 to £10.75 from April, subject to Tynwald approval.
The living wage currently stands 20p above that, at £11.05, with hopes to have the two pay brackets joined up in the next few years.
Lawrie Hooper says that's why government is suggesting a higher increase than that suggested by the Minimum Wage Committee:
