Council Leader grateful for support
The Leader of Douglas Council David Christian says he was surprised not to have lost votes during last night’s elections.
In Hills Ward he topped the polls with 967 votes, slightly up on four years ago despite poor weather and just a 25 per cent turnout.
Councillor Christian says he’s glad people continue to show confidence in him despite a difficult year for the Island’s largest local authority.
In January, the council announced it would scrap the historic horse tram service on Douglas Promenade – but Mr Christian says that turned out to be a non-issue for voters:
