Hospitality counting the cost of 'quietest ever' MGP

Businessman believes cost of travel has been putting fans off

A local hospitality business that's operated a mobile ice-cream van from the Grandstand during the Manx Grand Prix for 30 years, says this year's event was the quietest ever.

Ian Davison told Manx Radio most of the customers enjoyed the atmosphere, but were unhappy at the cost of getting to the Island for the event.

His views have been echoed by other hospitality businesses contacted by Manx Radio, with the Creek Inn in Peel reporting last week to be its quietest since Easter, while Victory Cafe at the Bungalow says it was busy in parts but generally just ticking over.
