Local authority plans sheltered complex for elderly
Ramsey Commissioners say they hope to hand over land to a housing committee to build a new sheltered housing complex in the town.
The local authority says it would charge the Ramsey and Northern District Housing Committee a nominal sum for the land on Queen’s Pier Road.
Commissioners have submitted a petition to the Department of Infrastructure to transfer the land, which would eventually accommodate a 36-unit elderly persons housing complex.
The board’s also asked for government funding approval to build 12 one-bedroom apartments on an adjacent site.
If all goes well, Ramsey commissioners say they’d submit planning applications in mid-May.
