Bank wants to take over Monsoon site
HSBC is waiting to find out if it’s got permission to move onto Douglas’s high street.
The bank has applied for planning permission to change the use of 88-90 Strand Street from retail to financial.
It wants to develop the 5,000 square foot Monsoon site into a new banking hub - complete with updated shopfront and two cashpoints.
It’s believed the women’s clothing shop is closing on 9 January.
HSBC says the layout and footprint of the building would stay the same if permission is granted – the building is not registered or within a Douglas conservation area.
The application is currently pending consideration - you can find out more HERE.
Manx Radio has contacted Monsoon's press office for comment - it refused our request.
