Hundreds of Manx students collect GCSE results

Headteacher says teenagers have a wide range of options

GCSE results day is about preparing students for what happens next, according to the headteacher at the Island's largest secondary school.

Hundreds of teenagers are picking up their results on the Island today.

For some, the next step will be entering the workplace, while others will continue their education.

Graeme Corrin of Ballakermeen High School spoke to Manx Radio's Amy Griffiths:

However, there will be some who are disappointed with the results they've opened.

In the UK, the number of top GCSE grades has fallen slightly from last year - but still remains higher than pre-pandemic levels.

The Isle of Man's stats are yet to be released.

However, King William's College says it's celebrating the best set of results (excluding the Covid years) since 2016.

Students there had an overall pass rate of 89%, with 22% of grades being awarded 9/8 or A* and 41% achieving 9-7 or A*/A.

Principal Damian Henderson says: "These GCSE results are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students and staff.

"Together with our recent IB results, this has been a remarkable year for our students at King William’s College."
