Temporary closure extended until midday Thursday
The Mountain Road is staying closed until midday tomorrow (9 January).
The Department of Infrastructure says the icy weather overnight means its gritters and snowploughs have been redeployed from the route in order to salt other roads around the Island.
It says the ongoing work has significantly reduced the resources available to work on the Mountain, Beinn Y Phott, and Tholt Y Will Road.
Two yellow weather warnings have been issued.
One is for frost and ice until midday on Friday (10 January) and another for snow showers later tonight until early tomorrow morning on ground as low as 400-500ft.
