Unofficial event organised after 'no one was available' originally to do so
There'll be no officially organised commemoration event for Illiam Dhone today - but it appears there will be an unofficial one.
The annual tradition has been held since 1979 at Hango Hill on 2 January, to remember the life and execution of the Manx politician by firing squad in 1663 for his part in handing the Island over to parliamentary forces during the English Civil War.
In an official press release, Mec Vannin and the Mannin Branch of the Celtic League said they 'regret that there has been nobody available to organise a Commemoration' this year.

However, we understand a commemoration has now been organised and will take place at 2pm as usual.
A session will be held afterwards at The Sidings in Castletown.
