New chair says they serve different roles
The Office of Fair Trading says it’s been inundated with complaints from gas customers who are struggling with billing issues or disconnection threats.
The chair says the consumer body is ‘almost exclusively running a customer hotline’ to try and help Isle of Man Energy customers.
The Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority - or CURA - regulates gas prices while the OFT deals with consumer issues.
