Improvements to air and sea connectivity

There are 16 ATC currently

Air and sea connectivity have been among the topics of discussion at the Isle of Man Government Conference today (17 September).

The two-day event is taking place at The Comis Hotel in Santon.

Addressing attendees the airport director at Ronaldsway revealed there's been a decrease in delayed and cancelled flights, and an increase in overall on-time performance, when compared to 2023.

Gary Cobb acknowledged there is still a shortage of air traffic controllers but outlined that the current number sits at 16 - which is two more than last year.

He added while there’s no quick fix for the shortages, they are working hard to reach their target of 18.

Meanwhile Steam Packet Managing Director Brian Thompson told attendees they are working to improve routes and connectivity.

He added 2023 was the best for numbers since the TT centenary year of 2007.
