Chief minister announces plan during Tynwald sitting
An independent review is to look into why severe flooding took place in Laxey last week.
The chief minister made the announcement at this morning's extraordinary sitting of Tynwald.
It came in his response to an emergency question from Garff MHK Martyn Perkins.
Howard Quayle says they are planning to take urgent action:
Just this morning on Manx Radio, we heard one local resident - and former commissioner - call for just such a review.
Mr Perkins' fellow Garff member, Daphne Caine, also welcomed the announcement, but shared her colleague's concern that there seemed to have been lots of reports and reviews in the past, with little action to follow them up:
Onchan MHK Julie Edge pointed out one of the holes in the wall had been created by Manx Utilities, so it could get a digger into the river:
