'Individual human circumstances' need to be considered alongside means testing

Three tenants in Douglas earn above the threshold for social housing

The chair of Douglas Council's Housing Committee says aggressive means testing means losing the ability to take 'individual human circumstances' into account.

Devon Watson addressed the topic of thresholds for social housing during an appearance on Manx Radio's Mannin Line.

He said that out of almost 5,000 tenants currently living in social housing in the capital just three earn too much to be living in their current homes.

Mr Watson insisted that even if they were evicted, it wouldn't solve the current housing crisis in 'any appreciable way':
