Treasury minister confirms MIRS involved in discussions
The Manx Industrial Relations Service has been brought on board to try and resolve the dispute between the Steam Packet and seafarers' union Nautilus.
Ongoing industrial action, leading to a lack of officer cover, has seen the Manxman passenger services temporarily reduced to daytime-only sailings.
Government met with Steam Packet bosses again yesterday to discuss solutions to the disruption.
Treasury Minister Alex Allinson gave a live update on the situation on Manx Radio Breakfast today (5 January).
He says negotiations have been at a deadlock:
With the Manxman operating on a reduced schedule, MV Arrow is currently running overnight freight services.
Dr Allinson says the Emergency Planning Strategy Group has been working to prioritise essential items.
