Latest govt shows a slight fall in CPI
There was a slight decrease to inflation last month, according to the latest government figures.
Whilst the retail prices index (RPI) remained unchanged for the month of August, the consumer prices index (CPI) fell by -0.2 per cent.
It means the CPI currently stands at -0.5 per cent with the the RPI in positive territory at four per cent.
The data shows it's been a bad year if you drink tea - which has risen 13.6 per cent over the last 12 months - however it's not been so bad if you eat bacon, which has fallen by eight per cent.
