Former MHK reacts to Laxey floods
A former infrastructure minister believes the Island's roads and drains aren't designed to cope with the level of rainfall recently seen in Laxey.
Phil Gawne, who now serves as clerk for Rushen and Arbory Commissioners, spoke about the damage at Glen Road while appearing on the Mannin Line this lunchtime.
While some have blamed ongoing work in the river, and questions have been raised over the clearing of drains and gullies, the former Rushen MHK says the infrastructure simply can't cope with so much rain:
