3.1% rise planned for April 2018
The Infrastructure Minister has defended a planned rise of 3.1 per cent in rents from April next year.
Ray Harmer MHK says the rents have to go up to reduce the difference between income and spend, as his department must pay off debt and fund investment in public sector housing
It'll mean increases of between £1.74 a week for a one-bedroom flat, and £2.96 a week for a three-bedroom house.
The decision comes following consultation with all local authorittes.
Mr Harmer says there a two important issues which have lead to the rise:

Government looking into wider access of weight-loss medications
