All the spectators injured in the crash on Bray Hill at the start of Friday's Senior TT are expected to make a good recovery, according to the surgeon on duty at Noble's hospital.
Four of the eight people admitted underwent surgery for serious leg injuries, one spending four hours in theatre.
Three patients have been transferred to specialist trauma centres at UK hospitals, another is due to be flown off-Island soon.
They were all hit by flying debris when competitor Jonathan Howarth came off his machine at the bottom of Bray Hill shortly after the start of the race.
At a news conference this afternoon, consultant orthopaedic surgeon Ian Wright said the outcome would have been far worse - with the potential for multiple fatalities - had the bike hit people in the chest or head or if children had been in the firing line.
Mr Wright said the casualties were quickly assessed in Accident and Emergency when the ambulances arrived:
