Dr Rachel Glover confirms facility's launch
One of the health professionals at the forefront of Covid-19 testing on the Isle of Man says a dedicated unit is "finally online."
Dr Rachel Glover tweeted earlier this afternoon, saying "bring forth the swabs!".
Last week, Health Minister David Ashford and the department's CEO confirmed there would be a dedicated testing centre operational by the beginning of this week, to end the need to send samples away to the UK for testing.
The change means the turnaround for results will be reduced - from more than a week in some cases - to closer to 48 hours.
It'll also mean testing rates can rise, to more than 200 a day.
We’re finally online with on-Island #COVID19 testing 🎉 🧬🧪🦠bring forth the swabs!
