MP's call for Crown Dependencies to help
A Westminster MP says the Isle of Man should be "asked to do more" to help solve the "colossal" Syrian migrant crisis, where it can.
Keith Vaz MP is the chairman of the UK's Home Affairs Select Committee - it released a report this week documenting EU action to address Syrian displacement.
It's believed plans to resettle the agreed 20,000 Syrians in the UK by 2020 is 'unlikely'.
Mr Vaz says if the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey want to take action alongside the UK, advice is available.
The committee has catalogued a series of serious failures - which Mr Vaz says is "lamentable".
He says the Crown Dependencies should get involved, if they can:
Three-month wait for state pension forecast statements
OFT to investigate possible regulation of funeral directors
"One of the Island's foremost champions of Manx heritage" to receive Tynwald Honour
No timeline yet for reinstatement of rehab service to north
Venezuela Fury & Noah Price wedding "a true showcase of the breadth and quality of Manx services"
