DoI member calls for demolition and replacement of Tramway Terrace
A Middle MHK says the Isle of Man is at risk of being turned into a ‘Victorian theme park’.
Stu Peters, who is a political member of the Department of Infrastructure, has told Manx Radio he believes Tramway Terrace on Douglas Promenade should be demolished and replaced.
The building, which was erected in 1877, has suffered extensive weather damage and was under threat of being demolished on safety grounds.
But the DoI is now looking for an engineer to come up with a strategy for its restoration; Mr Peters says replacing it with 'something more usable' would be his preference:
