Representatives attend commemoration
A number of Manx politicians, delegates and members of the public were in northern France on Friday, marking a century since the beginning of the Battle of the Somme.
Many of the 1,261 Manxmen killed in World War I fell in the devastating battle, which saw more than a million casualties on all sides in five months.
An 'emotional' rememberance ceremony took place this morning, on the former battlefields at Thiepval.
Among those paying their respects besides the likes of David Cameron and Francois Hollande was Culture Vannin's Charles Guard:
