Ramsey operations to transfer to China plant
Strix has announced its Ramsey factory is to close.
The company - which is a global leader in the design, manufacture and supply of kettle safety controls - says the move will result in a number of redundancies.
It has committed to 'maintaining its head office' on the Island, at Ronaldsway.
However, it marks the end of manufacturing for the brand on the Island.
The factory was partially closed in 2024.
In a statement it said: "Strix has a proud heritage on the Isle of Man and is committed to maintaining its head office here on the Island.
"In line with most successful manufacturing organisations, the company operates on a model of continuous improvement and is constantly looking at how to improve its efficiencies as well as reduce its environmental impact.
"In light of this, the company can confirm that a commercial decision has been taken, in response to pressures on its sustainability considerations and global supply, to close its Ramsey factory and transfer operations to its China plant.
"This does unfortunately mean that a number of roles will be displaced due to redundancy.
"The specific number of redundancies to be made cannot be confirmed at this time, whilst the company undergoes a full consultation with all those affected.
"Our priority is to ensure support is provided to everyone affected, with clear guidance and help throughout the process."
