Rule change on product labelling follows death of UK teen
Natasha's Law came into effect at the start of October and cafe's across the Island, as well as those in the UK, have had to make changes as to how they label packaged products.
It follows the case of 15-year-old Natasha Ednan-Laperouse from the UK who died after eating a baguette from Pret-a-Manger containing sesame - an ingredient which wasn't labelled on the packet.
Now, companies must have each ingredient detailed on a label attached to the product.
"You're talking about a family business that has had to fork out an initial investment of £2,300."
Justin and Alejandra run the Bohemian Coffee Shops in Douglas and say, whilst efforts to avoid these events happening again are welcome, it could have been done better:
"I'm very familiar with the problems allergy sufferers face, but I don't see how this solves the problem."
