Ashley Hill Primary School celebrates
A special event will take place at Ashley Hill Primary School this morning to mark Thai New Year.
There are currently around 150 Thai nationals living on the Isle of Man.
Seven Thai monks travelled to the Island yesterday (Fri) and walked along Douglas Prom in the early morning to receive rice and food items from members of the local Thai community, in what is a traditional practice for Buddhist monks.
The monks will be at Ashley Hill school this morning and from 10am to 3pm there will be chance to sample a range of Thai cuisine, watch traditional Thai dancing and a "Miss Songkran" beauty contest.
All are welcome - there is no charge but the proceeds from a collection will go to temple funds.
